Ayurveda, the oldest healing science translating into ‘The Science of Life’ in Sanskrit originated around 5000 years ago and is often referred to as ‘Mother of all Healing’. Ayurveda aims at building and maintaining a delicate balance among mind, body, and soul and promotes a healthy lifestyle.
As per the belief of Ayurvedic practices, it is essential that there is harmony between one’s self and the universe, any disturbance in this link is the reason behind different sickness.
Our bodies are like sponges that tend to absorb everything around them. The world we live in today is so full of pollutants both physical and metaphorical, that it makes it extremely difficult for our bodies to stay pure and positive which affects our state of well-being and productivity as well.
It then becomes essential to indulge in a detoxification process every once in a while, in order to ensure the proper functioning of our mind, body, and soul. Every human is made out of 5 basic elements: Space, Air, Water, Fire and Earth
All these different elements define and determine how our bodies work and respond to different elements of the environment.
These 5 elements combine to form different energies/dosha, namely:
1. Vata Dosha ( Space & Air)
2. Pitta Dosha ( Fire & Water)
3. Kapha Dosha (Water & Earth)
Panchakarma in Ayurveda is the procedure that aims at restoring the harmony between one’s self and the Universe. It aims at preventive and curative measures for different kinds of diseases.
The main aim of ayurvedic therapies is to re-establish the balance between all the doshas through panchakarma therapies meaning 5 procedures, namely:
